A Short Path to A New You

Written by

I think back to a time when I was rummaging through my house for change to purchase a pack of cigarettes.  Not only was I broke, but I was overweight and depressed.  It took everything I had just to get up in the morning because frankly, sleep was the only place I could escape.  Yes, that was me just seven years ago.

Let’s fast forward.

Today I am a certified life coach, published author, and I co-host a radio show with Denise Brown (sister of Nicole Brown Simpson) which is an awareness and solution based show that discusses topics anywhere from domestic violence and bullying to mental health and motivation.  I am a non-smoker and health advocate.  I no longer carry the baggage of a negative mindset.  I no longer think money is something only the rich or the lucky acquire and I no longer believe that I am incapable of accomplishing an “unrealistic” goal or something that others believe to be impossible.  Why?  Because I broke free of the bondage of my own mind.  I found the “secret”.

In 2009 I walked from San Francisco to San Diego for domestic violence awareness (over 500 miles).  It took 60 days and was one of the most difficult yet rewarding things I have ever experienced.   There were people who laughed at the mere thought of this.  “She’ll quit.”  Well, I am proud to report that no, I did not quit.  I made it happen.  And since then it has only gotten better.

I have snorkeled in Hawaii and attended Broadway shows in Manhattan.   I have met and worked with celebrities and been a guest at invitation only media events with multimillionaires.  Are these things important?  Only in the sense that they demonstrate the drastic change a person can make in their own life.  More importantly is paying that information forward so others can find the strength they already possess and put it to use.  You do not have to suffer.

I am not suggesting that you need to do something as drastic as walk 500 miles to make things happen in your life nor am I suggesting that the experiences I have created for myself are experiences that you want.  I am merely sharing with you the idea that when you set your mind to something, you truly CAN make it happen.  To state otherwise would be misleading because you cannot undo the fact that I have proven it through my own experiences.  I trained and gained control over my own mind and thoughts and I can teach you how to do the same.

Fear, self-sabotage, low self-esteem, limited to no confidence, jealousy, poverty mindset, overeating… these are all created through our negative thought patterns.  Most of us are on auto-pilot and do not even realize that this is why we are experiencing negativity and despair in our lives.

For years I played in the field of negativity.  I thought myself to be a victim of circumstance; a “product of my environment”, and because of that thought process caused myself and others to suffer needlessly.  Whether you realize it or not, your negativity causes others to suffer.  You may not inflict pain and suffering on them directly, but you will inflict it indirectly.  The years I spent in a dead end job with poor health and an empty wallet could have been avoided if I knew then what I know now and I could have inspired those around me rather than give them a message of defeat.

Do you want to wait another five, ten, fifteen years before you begin to live the way you really want to live?   Or are ready for a change and ready to make things happen now?  Don’t take the long path that I had to walk when you can take the short path by using the map I give you.  Let go of the excuses and make it happen!
